The Armed Forces of Meriad or the Meriadni Military is the military organization responsible for the defense of Meriad, as established in the Civil Defense Act of 1765 by the Parliament of Meriad.
It encompasses four subservient branches: the Meriadni Army, the Meriadni Royal Navy, the Meriadni Royal Marines, and His Majesty's Aerial Forces.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Meriad is the reigning Monarch of Meriad, presently King Sketli Edhrophel II. The military is led by General Ebba Isaksson, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces. She is the first woman to hold the highest military position in the country.
Organization[edit | edit source]
While the de jure commander of the Armed Forces is the reigning monarch of Meriad, the de facto head of the military is the appointed Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces. The Chief of Staff is traditionally a four-star general or equivalent, although historically individuals with ranks as low as Brigadier General have been appointed to this position.
