The Ordic Cold War refers to the state of political and military tension between nations in two rival blocs in Ordis: the Global Alliance for Progress, led by the Holy Khorneran Empire, and the Ordic Communist Union, led by the Nerotysian Revolutionary Union. This rivalry is rooted in ideological disagreements which stretch back more than a century, but the modern geopolitical rivalry dates since the end of the Second Endwar.
The 'Cold' War is so called due to the lack of direct military conflict between the two blocs, a status quo which is largely the result of nuclear weapons, forcing both blocs into a policy of mutual assured destruction. Instead, the war has been 'fought' through a series of proxy wars like the Haevan Civil War and the War in Pyrzykistan, as well as indirect acts of aggression such as the ongoing February 2016 Asylum Affair.
The starting dates of the conflict are not agreed upon by historians; some place the start years before the end of the Second Endwar, while others claim it began years after the conclusion of the war. However, most historians agree that the Settlement of Udio, signed in June 1947 was at least the first major catalyst for the Cold War. The War-Guilt Article and the Union Article caused especially large amounts of animosity in Nerotysia and Khornera respectively. This dissatisfaction, coupled with the rapid rise of Nerotysia as a global power and the quick resurgence of the Kolish Konzhunate, created the ideal conditions for a Cold War.
